Assignment.
How would it be possible for a government to keep the truth from its citizens?- For what reasons would a government want to control or manipulate information?
The government could keep information from its citizens. It is very easy if you think about it. Its called M-O-N-E-Y!!! Even though we would like to think that everyone is honest and generally a good person reality is another. If you are a very important person, or influential money wise, sad truth is that you can almost always get anything you want. Politicians know many people and can easily find others that are willing to keep a dirty secret or help create a conspiracy for money. You would be surprised what some people are willing to do for money. These people are paid a lot of money and sometimes keeping a secret doesn’t seem like much, but if you spill the secret, the end result is death. So even if you wanted to come out with the truth, are you willing to die for it?
I think that the government would want to keep information hidden from people because if people were aware of the truth then they would probably over through the government or mess up any plans that the government was thinking about doing. When the people don’t know, they are given a false sense of safety and the government is happy because they don’t have to deal with the peoples opinions. The government then abuses their power, given to them by the “clueless” people. If the government can control the information then they can increase their money and power. Then no one will judge them or ever risk losing power, because after all the people represent power. Without us there is no power for the government. We represent a great risk for government officials. To them we are better left unaware of our current situation. If we were aware of what was really going on then I’m pretty sure our government wouldn’t be corrupt. Our biggest mistake is blindly trusting others, and never second guessing or questioning them. Smart people ask questions, I guess we just haven’t got the message yet. =/
